GROUP ACCIDENT INSURANCE

DESCRIPTION OF BUSINESS

Principally participation in Sporting events plus Sports administration, organising and conducting sporting events, fund-raising and any other activity incidental thereto.

SCOPE OF COVER

Cover limited to “injury” to an Insured Person whilst involved in the following activities:

—      Playing in club and representative games, competitions and performances

—      Participating in training or practice sessions, or official functions arranged by the insured

—      Travelling to or from club and representative games, competitions or performances, training or
         practice sessions, meetings or official functions arranged by the insured (refer to conditions)

—      Engaged in activities connected with the sport whilst staying away from home during a tour for the
         purpose of participating 

—      Whilst an Insured Person is engaged as an administrator, coach, referee, official or voluntary
          worker at an event authorised by and under the control of the Insured.

Note:  End of season social trips are not covered under this policy

Injury

means bodily injury which:

— Is sustained by an Insured Person during the Period of Insurance and while they are covered as an
     Insured Person under this policy; and

— Results from an Accident and is caused by sudden, violent, external and visible means; and

— Occurs solely and directly and independently of any other cause, including any illness, sickness,
    disease, pre-existing physical or congenital conditions or heatstroke, except illness or sickness
    directly resulting from, or  medical or surgical treatment rendered necessary by such Injury; and

— Occurs whilst engaged in the above listed sanctioned activities.

Your Insurer will pay the Member that percentage of the capital Sum Insured that is shown next to the disability in the table below.  The disability must take place within 365 days of the Accident that caused it occurring.

26.  Any Permanent Disability or Disfigurement that is not total or is not listed under Events 7 to 31, will be paid for in proportion to the degree of Permanent Disability as compared with the cases as listed in the Schedule of Capital Benefits without taking into account the occupation of he Member.

 

Your Insurer will pay such a percentage of the Capital Benefit they They in Their absolute discretion determine and being in Their opinion not inconsistent with the compensation provided under Events 7 to 31 inclusive, limited always to a maximum of 75% of the Event 1 compensation amount.

The degree of Permanent injury will be decided at 365 days after the Accident.

SECTION B – Additional Benefits

1.  Loss of Income

a). Temporary total disablement preventing the insured person from engaging in his/her normal income producing occupation, excluding income from participating in the insured sport.  Paying up to 80% of average weekly earned income.

b). Temporary partial disablement, covering the difference between the insured persons average weekly earnings and the income received from employment in a reduced capacity due to the injury.

2.  Student Assistance Benefit

3.  Home Help Benefit      

Paying up to the sum insured, reimbursing 100% of costs incurred for child minding, ironing,
washing, cooking, cleaning etc.  Payments will be made at the end of each

5.  Non-Medicare Medical Expenses

Paying up to the insured percentage reimbursement for all Non-Medicare expenses incurred as a result of the injury.  Should the insured person be insured by Private Health Insurance, or be entitled to receive reimbursement from any other source, the reimbursement will be the amount by which the Non-Medicare expenses exceed the benefit the insured person is entitled to receive from his/her Private Health Insurer or other source, to the maximum benefit per injury, less the excess.

CONDITIONS APPLICABLE TO PERSONAL ACCIDENT COVER

GEOGRAPHICAL LIMITS

The policy provides cover Worldwide excluding USA & Canada whilst conducting normal club activities and adhearing to club roles and by-laws.

INSURER

The cover is arranged through Calliden Ltd  ABN 43 110 186 224.

CONDITIONS:

— Claims for injuries incurred travelling to and/or from participation is limited to 20% of Capital
     Benefit.

PREMIUM FOR PERSONAL ACCIDENT COVER

Premium available on application.

Note 1:

 

For organisations that require a different commencement of cover date to fit in with expiration of current policies the premium will be adjusted on a pro-rata basis.

 

Note 2:

 

GST is constant at 10% of base premium and 11% stamp duty applies.
